AMC Theaters will accept payments with Dogecoin and Shiba Inu

By March 19th the world largest cinema chain will add the two meme coins between the accepted cryptocurrencies.

Leading US movie and theater chain AMC Entertainment Holdings, which operates 1,004 movie theatres in 15 countries, started to accept Dogecoin and Shiba Inu, the two largest meme cryptocurrencies, as a payment option.

“BitPay will be live for AMC online payments on our web site by March 19, and live on our mobile apps by April 16, possibly a few days earlier. BitPay, and therefore soon AMC, accepts Doge Coin and Shiba Inu” AMC CEO Adam Aron tweeted on Monday.

AMC already began accepting Bitcoin, Ether, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin for purchase tickers and goods back in November 2021. Nevertheless, many AMC’s clients started to demand the inclusion of Dogecoin and Shiba Inu among the accepted cryptocurrencies.

During a recent interview with Fox Business, the AMC boss reiterated the company’s plan to issue its own cryptocurrency, but the plan is still up in the air. Recently, the company also decided to reward non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to those who advance purchase or reserve opening-day tickets to “Spider-Man: No Way Home”.
