Spanish football first division signed a global license agreement to enter into the Decentraland metaverse.

Spanish football first division organization LaLiga announced the signing of a strategic license agreement to carry out a joint project in the Decentraland metaverse together with StadioPlus - a Spanish company that provides technology and guidance to the sports industry in connecting it to the Web3 world - and Vegas City Limited - a company specializing in the creation of experiences based on the metaverse and blockchain.

For LaLiga it is essential to continue innovating in ways to offer the best of the competition to our fans, both on and off the pitch. This licensing agreement will allow us to reach a new and significant audience, like that of Decentraland,” said Stephen Ibbotson, Head of Franchises and Licensing at LaLiga.

Through this agreement, a series of LaLiga-themed land parcels will be developed within the Vegas City district, which owns Decentraland’s largest sports, gaming and entertainment areas.

This licensing agreement demonstrates LaLiga’s commitment to new approaches that allow the Spanish competition and its clubs to reach new audiences and offer unique and innovative experiences to fans around the world.
