The platform is continuing its trend of partnering with sports organizations and teams in the past 18 months.

The digital asset exchange platform Crypto.com has, on March 22, been unveiled as the official sponsor for this year’s FIFA World Cup to be held in Qatar between November and December. The World Cup is watched by millions of individuals around the world and will therefore present a great audience for the platform to pitch its model to.

Kai Mandati, FIFA’s Chief Commercial Officer, explained that “Crypto.com has already demonstrated a commitment to supporting top-tier teams and leagues, major events and iconic venues across the world, and there is no platform bigger, or with greater cultural impact, than FIFA’s global platform of football.” Crypto.com will launch its sponsorship by providing opportunities for new and existing customers to attend matches and win exclusive merchandise.

The platform is not new to the sports world: last summer, it made a deal with entertainment company Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) to become its major sponsor, and a few months later won a naming rights deal for the NBA team Los Angeles Lakers’s venue, transforming its name from Staples Center to Crypto.Com Arena.
